Some moms are queens

So- I went back to work today for the first time since DS's birth. I work 12 hour days as a nurse at a children's hospital...but that's beside the point. I only work 2 shifts a week...I pumped at 545am, 10am, 1pm and 4:45 pm and all was well, DS nursed twice after i got home. Anyway- I HATE PUMPING! The absolute WORST part of being back at work is the dumb pump! We are so lucky because up in the NICU they have Medela Symphony's for us to use that are fantastic, but any way you slice it, pumping sucks (for me anyway)!

So to all you mamas who are EPers or 5 day a week working moms-
YOU ARE QUEENS!

I do not envy you and I don't think I could do it! You are all amazing mamas!

Re: Some moms are queens

For funny, I was just going to start a thread similar to this. I work five days a week and have a supply issue to begin with. I don't get to pump as much as I would like being a manager at a very busy fast food restaurant, so I have to pump at work and at home. I feel like I am always hooked up to the thing! I felt like it was distracting from bonding time and stopped pumping at home for a couple weeks and now I only have three bags of milk in my freezer! I am in so much trouble next week! I knew I would be, but I needed that bonding time! Time to get back on track. I was going to ask who else felt like they were chained to their machine!

I do the same thing! I work two twelves on a telemetry peds unit. I only pump twice a day though, and sometimes not even that I can' believe you find the time to pump three times during your shift. I guess I could if I pumped during lunch. but since I'm usually answering phone calls and running to rooms even during lunch that would be difficult.
