what is your bedtime routine?
what is your bedtime routine? ours doesn't seem to be working well anymore, so am curious what others do to help LO relax and wind down before bed.

Re: what is your bedtime routine?
We've accidentally gotten a new one that works much better than our old one. Meal around 6 or 7, hard playtime with mommy and daddy until about 8, then reading or a long walk until 8:30, put away our toys and books, then say our goodnight to daddy (this is when she 'knows'
), change into jammies and then BF, and put her down to sleep no later than 9:30. We used to read Goodnight Moon in our nursing chair before BFing and she would always get super pi#$ed off about it and fight fight fight. I don't know why. When I cut that out, she was a-okay

Re: what is your bedtime routine?
We have been lucky and don't really do have to do anything special. We eat dinner around 6 and then the rest of the evening is normally daddy time. She is usually napping when he gets home from work so that's the first time that they get to really play together. Around 8 they sit and cuddle for a while. Then we go upstairs get changed and lay her down. Most nights she's asleep within 5 minutes. She's always in bed by 8:30 at the latest. Some nights she will go to the gate at the bottom of stairs and then we go to bed a little early.

Change diapers, put on jammies, clean up toys, brush teeth, go to bed.

Re: what is your bedtime routine?
I am becoming a SAHM/WAHM starting Tuesday, so it might change a little then, but here is what we do now.
We get home from work around 6 or 6:30, daddy holds her while I run around the house getting things together (pajamas, diaper, blankies and Cory - her stuffed giraffe). Daddy starts the bath while I undress her, I bathe her, slather/massage her with lotion, diaper and dress her for bed, BF, while burping her, say "I love you, it's bed time" three times, put her down in her bed, say "night night sweet girl, I'll see you in the morning," cover her up and leave the room. She is asleep within minutes. She is never up past 7:30, ever. Of course, she is only 6 months old, and I am sure this will not work forever, but it has been this way since she was 2 months old. |

Re: what is your bedtime routine?
DD is almost 18 months and generally goes to bed around 7:30. Around 7 one of us will put PJs on her, and the other one will pick the toys in the living room. Then we'll grab the bag of books and DD will get books out for us to "read" to her (not much reading gets done b/c she loves to turn the pages). Around 7:20 or 7:25 we'll say, "its time to pray," and we kneel around the ottoman and pray. Then one of us will say, "give kisses to mommy, its time to brush your teeth" and she will pretend to brush her teeth with her finger and go to DH. She has started saying, "night, night, mommy." It is so cute! DH does the rest when he is home, taking her to brush her teeth and then put her down in her bed. It works pretty well, and I like to have teeth brushing always associated with bedtime b/c it makes it easier when we are traveling.

Re: what is your bedtime routine?
It's touch and go for us, but generally it goes like this:
Playtime with Daddy Boob (while Daddy fills the tub) Bath/Showertime PJ's and diaper change Boob Book Bed It works like that on a good day. You don't want to know what happens when it doesn't work out like that

Re: what is your bedtime routine?
I forgot to read her Goodnight Moon for about 4 nights running and then realized she was going down with zero fight. And then I noticed that when I said it's time to clean up our toys, she would yawn - the magic sign So I must have been cueing her and didn't realize it. Hey, I am not complaining!
