just curious, how did you all pick your LO's name?

Matilda is the name of my great-great aunt AND my great-aunt. AND - my Matilda and my great-aunt share a birthday. How cool is that?

Her middle name is Grace - which was my great-great grand mother AND my grandmother's name.

My LO's name is Dante Samuel. Our only parameters were that his name carry some meaning. We believe that a child's name is almost a prophecy for his/her life. We chose Dante because of the author (not the movie

) and because of it's meaning, "enduring". Samuel is from the Bible story. My dh is half Chinese so we also wanted a name that when "translated" into Catonese still had a strong meaning. DS's Chinese name is Don-teet. Don means an elixir that can cure anything and teet means steel/iron. We came up with the options of Dante and Samuel sitting at an IHOP 2 days AFTER my due date but we didn't decided which would be the first name and which would be the middle name until about an hour before we left the hospital.

Somehow the name Margo just occurred to me a few days after we found out I was pregnant. Also I love the movie The Royal Tennenbaums, and Gwyneth Paltrow's character was named Margot, which is how I knew the name in the first place. I asked DH what he thought, and he loved it! However, we didn't like the 't' at the end, so chose the spelling Margo instead.

Then I investigated its meaning and found it means 'pearl'. Her middle name, Dora, was the husband's maternal grandmother's name. He was very close to her.

We didn't find out the gender, but almost from the day we chose the name Margo, my husband would call her by the name. And sure enough ... we got our Margo Dora!

Our childrens names include a family name somewhere in them. Our oldest dd is Loghan Jane_ Loghan because we liked it and Jane is my mothers name. Ds is James Finnell- James is after his daddy and Finnell is my grandmothers maiden name, we call him Finn. dd2 is Lily Lee- Lily because i love that name and Lee is her daddies middle name.

It was the only first name we could agree on.

But it happens to be the same as two of my favorite authors. And his middle name is Eugene (my dad's first name). I've got a few names picked out for future use, so whenever we get a BFP I will just start getting DH used to them.

Aidan came to me even before dh and I were married, I heard it in a movie and loved it,dh did not care for it because it was to close to his nephews name (Brayden) but a couple years later when I was preg, I went into labor early (6weeks) and they asked if we had a name picked out, dh did not have any name picked out so we went with Aidan

Dh picked Evans name out when I was in labor

My son hunter - my husband always wanted to name a boy Hunter Alexander, and so we did!

our daughter Evangeline Marie - I heard the name Evangeline in the movie Nanny McPhee. I fell in LOVE with the character and her name and I had never heard it before and I asked my husband that moment "if we ever have a daughter can we please name her that?"

he said yes, and here we are!

We found it on a video game- Forza 2

It was spelled Tanaka in the game and we just changed the spelling.
