Anyone here dealing with a lo with reflux?
My youngest is 14 months and we're still dealing with reflux...wondered if there was anyone else out there that's still dealing with it as well.

Re: Anyone here dealing with a lo with reflux?
My little guy is only 4 monts so we haven't been dealing with it as long as you but I know the pain! We're both exhausted from no sleep and screaming during feedings and no weight gain...the list goes on. We're going today for a follow up at the gastrointerologist. We'll see how it goes.
to you mama! Is your lo on meds?

Re: Anyone here dealing with a lo with reflux?
yes, my lo is on 15mg of Prevacid a day...he's down from 30mg a day, but he definitely still needs the meds. We've been dealing with it since he was around 6wks old, and he's been on meds since then. I need to make an appt with his pediatric GI doc, since his Rx will run out in the next 2 weeks...

oh how I feel your pain...we are struggling with our 10 month ds and trying to get it all under control. We were doing well up to two weeks ago, and then the world came crashing down again!

Re: Anyone here dealing with a lo with reflux?
*hugs* mama, I have dealt with reflux, it's horrible, I feel your pain. My DS had it just because, and my DD had it because she was a preemie (born 6 1/2 weeks early and had a feeding tube). My DD was on medications 9xs a day, and threw up 20xs a feed, and the docs tried everything to make me stop BFing so they could thicken her formula...we didn't even think about it since BM is digested way faster and easier, so I don't see how that would help. I hope your little guy grows out of it soon, it made me want to cry every time my DD screamed from nursing

Re: Anyone here dealing with a lo with reflux?
We have only been deal with it for about 4 months. It didn't show up in DD until she was 3 months and got worse at 4 months. I know how frustrating it is....they tell me she will outgrow it by 18 months, but that seems like ages from now!

Re: Anyone here dealing with a lo with reflux?
to all you mamas! If you have any questions, or need any support, PLMK...reflux sucks, most definitely for our lo's, but it effects the entire family as well. Another excellent resource is www.marci-kids.com they have a medication calculator on there. Many peds under-dose lo's because they just don't have the training in the area and then our poor lo's are still in pain. Also, remember YOU are paying your ped...if you don't like the service you are getting, request a 2nd opinion! There are ped GI specialists out there!

Re: Anyone here dealing with a lo with reflux?
we are still dealing with it in a way. My 22 month old had a fundo (stomach wrap) at 3 months old because of his reflux. We no longer have vomiting or screaming though there is still damage to his esophagus, and he has a hiatal hernia and paraesophageal hernia. Now our screaming and pain is when his body is trying so desperately to throw up but cant. And when he gets sick the PEH will basically block anythign from getting down....
Being 'done' with reflux in our case isn't necessarily all it's cracked up to be. though if we had a second chance I would have done everything the same
