how to fix low arches???

ok, dh has like NO arches on his feet, and ds1 is showing little to no arches in his feet now...he's almost 6. is there any way to correct this???

search 'good feet' they're corrective inserts and shoes to help build arches. All the arch is - is muscle, so it helps strenthen them, and it's so much easier to do when they're small- it hurts when you get older

My DH works for Good Feet I don't know they will really do anything for a 6 year old though (they will sell to minors with the parental consent, but I just mean I don't know that they'd have the whole 'system' that small), although they do sell kid arch supports. So, you could check it out.
But, your DH should check it out too.

Check with a PT. They can make inserts to correct that early. Otherwise, but shoes with good arches (hard to come by these days!).

i went to the good feet website, and they don't sell them online??? i've tried the good shoes, like athletic shoes, but it doesn't seem to help a lot. i'm going to make him an appt on monday though and see if the army will do anything for him.

so i called one of the good feet stores and they said at his age he has to have one special made by a pediatrist...i can only imagine how much that would cost!

Yeah, they are "custom" arch supports at Good Feet - they measure the foot, to make sure it's a good fit, etc...

Check with your insurance getting arches made for him may be covered. DH sees it all the time. People go in with Dr.s notes for arches (from their foot Dr) and insurance may cover a portion of it.

Just finding shoes with good arch support should be fine.

I can't remember the shoes with the best support anymore. My dd wore "Elephanten" shoes and Keds. At the time, those were the best. Especially the Elephantens.

I have no arches and saw a podiatrist from the time I could walk until I was 13. I had to wear shoes connected with a brace when I was sleeping which I always used to kick off (they were supposed to help correct it but didn't do much). The podiatrist gave me exercises to help, one was walking on my heels back and forth across the living room, the other was to roll my foot on a soup can. I also had to wear 'oxford' type shoes that had arch support. Can you see a pediatric podiatrist and see what they recommend?

My oldest (now 6) had a a lot of problems with her feet and ankles. All her weight basically rested on her inner ankles. I took her to an orthopedic surgeon and her prescribed ankle braces for her. She was casted for custom fit orthotics.
