How to Fix BumGenius Elastic Tutorial *w/pictures*

Thanks soooo much for posting this. I purchased 20 BG 2.0 Seconds in April 2007 and about half of them have blown elastic. I just followed your tutorial to fix a diaper and it went very well!

I just wanted to add that it was very hard to find the thread to pull apart so for others doing this just be patient. On the first one I wasn't patient and tore a little hole in the suedecloth I then took my time and made sure I was just apply the seam ripper to the thread.

I just measured mine and it was 1/4" wide and looks exactly like what is already in there.

I usually just sew the elastic down where the old elastic had been, between the cut edge and the seam you just removed. I pull that edge through the opening I made and sew there.

I machine sew, but it's really only a few stitches so hand sewing might be just as easy. For me the machine is faster and time is more precious.

Yes, I use the seam ripper to remove the old elastic, or you could leave the 'stumps'. I just prefer to take them out while I have it opened up.

Ok Im a dunce...
Im so lost...How much would you charge to fix 1 diaper for me both legs are out.

That's exactly how i do them when i repair them. fuzzibunz are a little harder as the elastic is stiched into the diaper not just at those two points.

good elastic to use is "STRETCH RITE" brand. get the polyester washable elastic in the 1/4 inch size. should be a green and white wrapper around it. i get mine at walmart!!
