For those of you who have crib sleeping LO's...

At what age did you take the bumper out of the crib?

I took ours out last night since DD can now roll over and moves around a lot more. I feel bad though because this morning when DH went to get her, her little head was up against the wooden part of the crib. She didn't hurt herself, but it couldn't have been that comfortable!

Should I put the bumper back in? She likes to snuggle her face against it, but that worries me big time! Especially since on one part of the crib there is nowhere to secure part of the bumper, so basically it is secured on three sides instead of four.

I don't know what to do

I took the bumper out when ds used it to climb out of the crib But now he rolls over and wacks his head on the bars which wakes him up and hurts him. Poor little guy

That's how old DD is...I guess it's better safe than sorry.

DD never had a crib bumper in her crib when she was teeny tiny. Only when she was way (6mo maybe) older did we get the breathable mesh kind and that was just to keep her from knocking bink out accidentally in the night. It was this kind....HTH

I thought bumpers were a SIDS risk? Never planned on them for DD's crib, but then I also planned on having her room ready by now.

I never liked having anything in the crib with her because of the SIDS risk, but I bought an angelcare monitor that monitors her breathing/heartbeat so it gives me piece of mine that way...trust me, if I didn't have that, I would find a way to cram my 18lb dd into her little cradle that we put beside our bed!

That does help, thank you! Too bad it's out of stock right now. Oh well, I'll have to check back later. Thanks mama

You can google it....lots of places carry it. I actually got mine by googling it from someone who was selling it off another forum I wasn't a member of.

I never took the bumper off of K's crib. He wasn't a climber either, so I wasn't worried about him using it to get out of the crib.
