Do you like oatmeal? Tried this for DD this morning..

The steel cut oats are neato huh? I'd never seen them before! (i didn't like that they cost more though )

I didn't find steel cut oats. I just got regular organic slow cook oats from the bins at Whole Foods.
Does that count?
Answer quick cause I'm on my way to start my oatmeal.......

Well, I used regular, non-quick cook oats, put it on at about 10pm and at 6:30 am they were burnt and mush... I sent DH to the real store tonight for steel cut!

What exacally are steel cut oats? How do they differ from regualar non-slow cook ones? We DONT HAVE steel cut in Iowa.

I had to look up on the top shelf at king soopers (same as krogers) mine are made by quaker, its in a dark blue container (shame shape as regular) Instead of being flat, they are like little round thingies. Want me to ship some out from colorado???
Maybe add a couple extra cups of water, to help it not burn. Mine was really thick this morning...

OMG, I didn't realize this would cause such a huge fuss!

Here's an explanation on the difference between steel cut oats and rolled oats:

Basically, steel cut oats are round instead of flat because they're not as processed. They also have more nutrition to them due to less processing. And they take longer to cook (hence why they work well for this crock pot recipe).

Where in Iowa do you live? At my local Hy-Vee they have steel cut oats in the health food section in the bins and prepackgedwith the oeganic cereal AND in the regular cereal aisle in a small blue container (made by Quaker and says Steel Cut Oats in yellow).
