Need advice

What colors are you guys seeing? I changed them from really bright to more subdued.... more of an eggplant, olive and mustard color.

IMO, and I am having the SAME troubles, if you carry the same things that other stores carry and you are a new store, you will have trouble selling. People tend to gravitate towards older stores that have a good feedback rating scale. Sux doesnt it? I've been lucky now that I've been open since March and have been able to almost make back what I've spent to open the store, but it took alot of sales, giveaways, etc...
Do you sew or make anything yourself? I run the Animal Cracker congo on Hyena cart and we do really well. You can join us to get exposure if you want.

it looks like you've incorporated some changes suggested above. i was able to get to products w/in one click - so that was good. the colors were good (esp. on the bottom level - individual product pages), the sort of shimmery/shadowy effect you have on the italic fonts (like shopping) was a little hard to read.

my only complaint was that to get to the specifics of a product you have to click the picture and there's not hyperlink in the text next to it. minor & it didn't stop me from getting in, but the way your site is set up my instinct was to click the text first not the pic (not sure why b/c on other sites i click pics w/ no problems).

i think advertising here and maybe on diaperpin is a good way to start getting your name out. i'm pretty sure the rates here are not too expensive...not sure about the pin.

The colors that I was talking about being so bright and my eyes gravitated toward it is the green and purple background stripes. I find my eyes going towards it instead of the products.

Advertise, advertise, advertise. It has paid off so much for me. It took me a year to make a profit but now I'm slammed...happily, I might add...

I did Ebay to reach other people and bring them to the site - offered combined shipping with website orders, etc.

Try some different ways to advertise - donate products for auctions, sponsor the Diaper Hunt, trade advertising with another WAHM (you send out her card, she sends yours, etc) Put your site in your siggy and post, post, post! Having sales doesn't hurt either.

I tried to do the diaper hunt, but somehow didn't get the e-mail that was sent out to official sign up. I imagine that would help my store A LOT.

I am thinking about doing a hyena cart.... I just "baked" some ribbon to make some korker bows and am also starting to do some beading work.... I've heard that's a great way to get started, too.
