Re: What's your fav. crock pot recipe?
I just tried threw in what I had lying around yesterday and it turned out swell
Hearty chicken stew 1 lb of chicken breast cut into cubes (you can prob use beef, but I prefer chicken) 1 can beef broth (can prob use veg or chicken broth instead) 1 can tomato sauce 1 1/2 cups diced carots 1 1/2 cups diced celery 4 small potatos cut into 1 inch cubes 1 cup scallions 1/2 cup diced white onions 2 tbsps of peanut butter 2 tbsps of flour Seasoned to taste - I used a bit of seasoned salt, grilled garlic & herb, parsley, cilantro, onion and garlic powder) 3 basil leaves Cook on high for 4 hours (low for 7). YUMMY!

Re: What's your fav. crock pot recipe?
This is an awesome thread!
Here is our favorite spaghetti sauce. It is nice and thick and tastes even better the second day. We usually half the recipe and it is enough for DH and I to eat for one night and leftovers the next. I usually add a little extra brown sugar and chili pepper. To save time I assemble the sauce ingredients in the crockpot while the ground beef is browning. Spaghetti Sauce Brown In Frying Pan: 2 Medium Onions, chopped 2 lb Hamburger (I add a little garlic, salt & pepper to the meat, but this is not in the recipe) Add to above in crockpot: 4 cloves of garlic (I use the pre-minced stuff in the jar) 2 cans tomatoes, drained and cut up or you can buy the mini diced ones 2 cans tomato sauce (15 oz size) 2 cans tomato paste (6 oz size) 1/2 cup parsley 2 Tablespoons brown sugar 2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon Chili Powder 3 teaspoons Dried Crushed Oregano 1/2 teaspoon Crushed Thyme 2 Bay Leaves 1 green bell pepper, cut up (we omit this since dh doesn't like green pepper) 2 cups water (we add less because we like thick sauce. For full recipe probably 1 1/2 cup and for half recipe probably 1/2 to 3/4 cup. Just add the water last and you will be able to gauge with your eyes how thick you want it). Cook on low all day.

Re: What's your fav. crock pot recipe?
Anyone have more all veggie recipes? My ILs are over and they're vegetarians.

Crock Pot Ultimate Chocolate Frenzy Cake
Yes a cake in a crock pot. Soooooo Good and sooooo easy! 1 Chocolate Cake Mix 1 pint sour cream 1 instant chocolate pudding 1 bag 12 oz chocolate chips 3/4 cup vegetable oil 4 eggs 1 cup water Mix all ingredients together and place in crock pot. Cook 8-10 hours on low. Scoop out into bowls and serve with ice cram and chocolate suace. Great for pot lucks! I brought this once to a pot luck and is requested everytime. I would love to see this thread sticky. I'm always looking for crock pot recipes this would be a great reference. Last edited by gfarley; 01-16-2007 at 10:01 PM. |

Sticky! Sticky! Sticky!
Great idea pp! FYI - I have a great cookbook published by Better homes and Gardens. I'll see if I can find it on amazon to post a link. It might be a good item to add to your holiday wish list! (I know people are always asking what I want, and I'm like....duh.... I dunno!) Here it is: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0696215462/ref=nosim/chrisficti-20
