white sweet potatoes???

i am a member of a food co-op where we are able to get some organic produce. well, i ordered 5 lbs of sweet potatoes. they are already bagged when i get them (come loose, another member weighs and bags them). i picked them up a tuesday, and am just now looking at them to cook. the skin is pale, and the flesh looks just like white potatoes. is this still a sweet potato? does it taste the same. well, i will find that out soon enough, but really, are they 'good'? anyone know anything about this?

Sweet potatoes can be white. The ones I get from the Farmer's Market here are (and from the local store). Did you like how they tasted?

Yams are usually more colorful than sweet potatoes.

oh, and yes, the potatoes i have are the ones pictured in the second link. thank you. i made some baked 'sticks' for the boys out of them. they seemed fine, but i prefer the orange ones.

You know, I got some of these too, unknowingly. I baked one up for my son, and he didnt eat it. He's not crazy about potatoes anyway, except he does like the orange sweet potatoes. So he wasnt crazy about these.

They are definetely not as sweet as the orange yams.
