Re: Bad night. Scared for ds. Prayers/Positive Thoughts Please.

My dd also had servere acid reflux and hardly ever ate and when she did it was on 2 ounce max until she was a year old. What seemed to work for us was prevecid (sp?). I would ask the doctor if you can try him on that. That being said my dd is 17 months has still barely eats. It is so fustrating we go to the doctors on a regular basis that is for other issues though so I know how you feel going to the doctors all the time and trying to soothe and do the best you can for your baby. Hang in there

Oh, Cat. I'm so sorry. I also wanted to let you know that last week I was reading about someone's child who wasn't eating too. They went to a specialist here in California called Los Altos Feeding Clinic run by behaviorist Ben Zimmerman. Could you maybe call him and he might know of someone in your area? If you want anymore information about the news article I can try to find the link too. HUGS! And I really hope he will be okay.

I had a little boy in the day care that I watched that had to be given 2 ounces of formula at a time and then wait 15-20 minutes then 2 ounces and so on. If we fed him a strait bottle, he would puke it right up. Try that maybe?

I will keep you and your family in my prayers

Re: Bad night. Scared for ds. Prayers/Positive Thoughts Please.

Do you think he might be sensitive to milk or soy proteins? DS had HORRIBLE reflux until I stopped eating those... he is still EBF but I'm definately nervous about starting solids soon b/c he is just all around sensitive w/ food, clothing materials, soaps, etc...

The dr gave DS baby zantac and it didn't really help b/c he is just so sensitive he always throws up when you give him any type of meds (even hylands tablets!!!)

I hope you find your solution soon. It is terrible to have a baby that hurts!

Sending prayers and your way!

Re: Bad night. Scared for ds. Prayers/Positive Thoughts Please.

My ds was like that when he was little also-I tried every trick in the book to keep food in him and it seemed like a loosing battle. Until, your ds may be a little too young for this but if he's already having cereal it might help. Get one of those mesh feeders and put pieces of banana or other soft stuff in it. Let him "eat" that and give him sips of the bottle in between. From what we could figure out the two different eating motions helped keep the liquids in until they could move on from the stomach. I completely forgot about that trick until I was reading this. We also would only give one or two ounces at a time and wash it down with a 1/4 ounce of water. That way when it came up if we were lucky and it wasn't one of the hit the wall times it would be the water and not the bm or formula. Hopefully once he's able to sit up straight like in a jumper or saucer it will help get the pressure off of his tummy and it will help also. Pm me if you'd like-I went through he ll and back with my ds -he would throw up so bad it would be stuck and he'd stop breathing-not all reflux babies do this so please don't panic anymore than you are.

Re: Bad night. Scared for ds. Prayers/Positive Thoughts Please.

It is always scary when you are dealing with Reflux. I did with my 3rd child. Turned out his reflux was caused from fluid behind his ear drum. At 10mths he had tubes put in his ears and never puked after that. He also started gaining weight faster.

The same child back in April fell off a chair and busted his head open and was glued closed. It healed nicely except for the dr glued alot of hair and for some reason his hair came out when the glue fell off so now he has a little bald spot.

I am praying for your children and for you.

How is his strength? Can he be in an exersaucer or anything yet? You *might* have better luck feeding him in a "standing position" (we call it "feeding a baby goat" )
I wouldn't wait a month on the soft spot. It takes a long time to get in with specialists. Shedule now. You can always cancel later, though I would just go and see what the specialist says. A visit to a gastroenterologist to help with the feeding and growth issues doesn't seem like overkill to me either.
*I* trust your instincts. *I* am ready and willing to listen to your gut.
