Question for a car seat tech!!!
I've been doing some research trying to figure out what to do about the carseat situation with my kids. I wondered what a car seat expert thought about this one:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS.../chrisficti-20 and this one: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS.../chrisficti-20 My 2.5 year old is only 28-30 lbs so I really don't forsee her outgrowing the 60 lb. limit anytime soon. Thanks for any info!!

Re: Question for a car seat tech!!!
Both seats are good. The safeguard Go is not in stores, you have to order it online, so I have not seen it in person yet. Safeguard is a great company though and i trust either of the seats they make completely. The Safety First seat is the Apex we have been talking about some in these threads. They both harness to heigher weights and have heigher harness heights. They are both only forward facing seats. They both require vehicle headrests behind the seat, and the safeguard seat Requires a Top Tether to achor to. It can not be used without the top tether. I don't know if that helps you make a decision or not, but it should give you some more info at least. Good luck! Jen

Re: Question for a car seat tech!!!
OK, so as I understand it if your vehicle doesn't have headrests on the back seats the ONLY carseat you can use over 40 is the Britax Regency. I have a 2003 Ford Taurus, and the back seats don't have headrests. It does have the LATCH system.
Boy this is really confusing!! No wonder so many people have their seats in wrong. I took a car seat safety class after DS was born b/c I got a free carseat. I went in there thinking I didn't need the class...I knew how to do it all right. Well, I realized BOTH my kid's seats were in wrong. There is really so much to know.

Re: Question for a car seat tech!!!
You can use the Britax marathon/decathalon/boulevard, the fisher price safe voyage deluxe, and the sunshine kids radian in a vehicle without headrests. The only two seats that require headrests are the Apex and safeguard go.

Re: Question for a car seat tech!!!
Thanks so much for all the info!! I can keep DD in her seat for a good while longer as long as she doesn't get much taller, but I wanted to know exactly what I needed to do when the time came.

Re: Question for a car seat tech!!!
New seats are coming out all the time, so hopefully we will have more higher height and weight options in the very near future.

Re: Question for a car seat tech!!!
Well, my sister has my neice in a booster seat, and I'm hoping to convince her to shell out a little money for safety.

Re: Question for a car seat tech!!!
PLEASE PLEASE someone.... I need help.
Money is tight & we need TWO carseats!!! We have one in there for my just-turned-four-year-old that works just fine, (forget what it is but it got good ratings for not being a britax) but we have to get one for the 5.5 yr old now (thinking of getting the same one for her they are 32 & 36 lbs respectively) And we need one for ds who is aprox 23lbs & is 19mo. Hes currently in an expired ( ) Britax roundabout but is there anything comparable in safety that is less expensive DH does NOT want to spend 250+ bucks unless I can convince him a 100 one wont do the job as well....I have a 2005 Chevey Venture

Quote:
![]() Do you have access to Consumer Reports to see the ratings on them? I am not as familiar with the heavier weighted-carseats b/c DD is only 23lb. I know there are other good ones out there, Britax is just the name that everyone knows b/c their seats are supposed to be the best. Hugs and GOOD LUCK!!!
