Re: Rita's Rump Pocket Fitted - So far, I love it!

I discovered this pattern just a couple of weeks ago and have been loving it too! So far I've only been using scrap flannel sheets since I've only tackled one sewing project since the boxer shorts from 8th grade home ec (was that a universal first home ec project? ) I've been using them on both my 1 mo (11.5lbs) and my 18mo (25lbs) stuffing with microfiber towels or NB prefolds. I'm definitely intending to make more and am looking forward to getting to the fabric store.

I was considering making some with a fleece inner so I'm glad to read of someone who did and found it works!

I have made a few of the rrp's and I am having trouble with the elastic. I am stretching it out and sewing it like the pattern says but it has no rebound after that. I have tried two different kinds of elastic. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?

I make some similar. I didn't know about this pattern before! So I don't know how it says to do the elastic, but you could always sew straight through the middle! Good luck.

I hated doing the elastic until my mom pointed out an easier way to do it. When I do my top stitch, I just leave little gaps where the elastic starts and ends, then I thread the elastic through with a safety pin and tack it down on either end. Looks the same and I don't have to sew around or over elastic! We have a 90% RRP stash now, and I love it!

I wouldn't straight stitch the elastic, IME it causes the elastic to go bad faster.

Also make sure you use braided elastic.
