Yes yes, another carseat post! Need help ASAP!

I am having a hard time deciding on a car seat. We are going halves (Dave and I) and I only have $60 of my birthday money to spend on it, so the seat has to be no more than $120.00 not including shipping (I have to order online, my bday money is a giftcard to walmart) and our wally world hardly has anything. I want the safest, highest weight rearfacing and forward facing, covertible, easy to install, not huge (we only have a company vehicle single cab truck and she's in the middle.) Please give me your opinions on these if any of you have tried them or know someone who has

I would say the alpha omega elite is the *easiest* seat (we have one). You can adjust the shoulder height right from the front the same way you do the straps. You use the two little red handles at the top. It reclines nicely and has a very wide seat (good for a tubbo like mine! lol) but not a very wide footprint when you take the detachable base of before you install it. The only thing with removing the base, it's harder to get reclined, but saves space.

For the Interra and the Triumph you're paying for all the extras - the pillows, the cupholders, etc - which you'll have to take off anyway if she's in the middle in a truck - you don't want a cupholder digging into your thigh! Plus I HATE the knob harness tightener!! My own little *urgh* there.

I found with the ComfortSport, and the Titan (it's the Tribute in Canada, I think), the harness height and the seat back aren't very high, and our kids outgrew it at around 2yo. If you're dd has a long torso you probably won't get your full 35lbs RF out of it anyway, since there won't be enough seatback above her head, kwim?

Out of those you listed, I like the AOE the best. My 6yo still fits in it nicely as a booster and he says it's comfy!

I would probably opt for the Intera. The top harness setting is a smidge higher than the AOE. The AOE would be good too. I REALLY like the Triumph, but I don't think it would last as long as the other two. I would not get the Comfort Sport or Titan. Zane outgrew both by two and he isn't "tall".

Does WM online have the Cosco Scenara? It's available in the store for $40-50. It doesn't switch to a booster, but should work well now. You can worry about later- later.

If at all possible try to go somewhere and try the seat before you buy. You need to make sure it fits properly RF and FF. Keep babe RF to the limits of the seat.

I really suggest going to the store to A- try babe in the seat to see if it works for you and B- if they let you, try the seat in your car or just go and see how big it really is in person.

I forgot to mention that she is a very tall baby, 32" at her 12month checkup with short legs and a VERRRY long torso....as I stated in the op, I would love to go to the store, except that they don't have any of these carseats there, I think they have maybe 4 or 5. It's a fairly small town, so trying the seat out first is not an option. The only other places here that have carseats are Target, and Sears. We don't have a toysrus or anything anymore.

Re: Yes yes, another carseat post! Need help ASAP!

I agree with the poster about checking to see if WM has the Sencera. It's only ~$50 and is a good seat. It installs very well, has high harness slots, and rf's up to 35 lbs.

The comfortsport is a huge pain to adjust rf and it as well as the evenflo seats don't have very high harness slots. My daughter outgrew her Triumph rf heightwise before she was 2!

Good luck

Re: Yes yes, another carseat post! Need help ASAP!

Sorry to hijack, but I've been trying to get my mom to buy a seat for her car, and if its cheap I think I might be able to talk her into it. I saw two Scenara's on walmart.com.

One is the Scenara Versa-fit:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=4231507
and the other one is the Scenra-Touriva:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=4083774

Are either of these the one you guys are talking about?

We have the touriva. Cost us about $80 CAD though... looks cheap when you see the USD prices...! Hamish is just now 32" (at 26 months) and he's front facing. I don't think you should get this one if you want to have it rf for a 32" kiddo.... the top of Hamish's head almost reaches the top edge of the seat. or just over.

HTH

BY the way... make sure that you don't buy a carseat that is too big for your car. there's a place on the net where you can type in your car and they have a list of carseats that will work.... just can't remember where.

Thanks momma! I *think* we are going for the Alpha Omega Elite, I'm researching it a bit more, but thanks to all of ya'll, have narrowed it down to three of the Safety 1st brands.
