1lb ground meat
6 sliced potatoes
1 can green beans
1 can cream of mushroom soup and 1 can of milk or water to thin.
brown your meat, add the potatoes and cook till tender, add green beans, and soup. Mix and simmer for about 15min.

Fried Rice
I buy a packet of seasoning
white rice
6 scrambled eggs
Frozen pea's and carrots
1 Shredded chicken breast
Start your rice first as it takes 20min to cook and I usually make about 4-6 servings. Next cook the chicken and then the eggs. Rice should be done by now so I toss it all in a big skillet and stir fry it a bit with the pea's and carrots. Yummy

Mac N cheese with Hot dogs
Mac n cheese with Broccoli and onions
Mac N cheese with spagetti sauce and hot dogs
Chicken breast cooked with mushroom soup and served over white/brown rice
i love fried rice when you say packet of seasoning is it a fried rice mix or something

Taco Soup
1 family size can of tomato soup
1 16 oz. jar of picante salsa
1 bag of tortilla chips
some chopped green onions and shredded cheddar cheese for garnish

Mix the soup and salsa together in a pot over medium heat. Add a little water if it seems too thick, or you're wanting to stretch it farther (usually I'll pour enough water into the soup can and salsa jar to get everything out of them and pour it all into the pot. Not that much.). Put some tortilla chips in the bottom of each bowl, crushed a little so they'll fit on the spoon, when eaten. Ladle the soup over the chips and top with onions and cheese.

This was a quick and easy favorite when growing up. I personally don't like green onions, so I always just put cheese on mine.
Warning: the chips will be slightly soggy. I don't mind, but I know some people might.

Re: ~$5 Meal Ideas~

I made this navy bean soup recipe last night (haven't tasted it yet... I intended it to be frozen in portions, but it smelled FABULOUS). http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Navy-Be...e7=Home%20Page

1 (16 ounce) package dried navy beans ($0.75)
6 cups water
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes ($0.75)
1 onion, chopped ($0.50)
2 stalks celery, chopped ($0.50)
1 clove garlic, minced (pennies)
1/2 pound chopped ham ($1.75 - I chop up lunchmeat)
1 cube chicken bouillon (pennies)
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce (pennies)
1 tablespoon dried parsley (pennies)
2 teaspoons garlic powder (pennies)
1 bay leaf (pennies)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
3 cups water

And I also added about 1/4 bag of frozen chopped spinach, so that was another $0.25 or so, for a total of around $4.75, and it serves 8-10 easily, so that's about $0.55 per person.

Re: ~$5 Meal Ideas~

great thread! an obvious one...pasta, jarred sauce and a bag of frozen veggies. this is something we ALWAYS have in the house in case we don't get to grocery shop in time or need an easier-than-planned meal.

Made this for dinner last week. Left out the roasted red peppers. DH ate half of it, I liked it, DD2 liked it... I got DD1 to eat one bite. I'll be making it again.

Re: ~$5 Meal Ideas~

I just found an AMAZING recipe for steak tips in the crock pot.

About 1.5 lbs of stew meat or steak tips
1 pkg of mushrooms ( I prefer baby portabellas)
1 can beef broth
1 packet dry onion soup mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup.

put beef in crock pot. cut mushrooms into quarters and add to crock pot. in a separate bowl, mix remaining ingredients then pour over items in crock pot. cook on low. Mine was perfectly ready in about 5 hours.

I served with mashed potatoes and OMG was it amazing.... sooooooo good! Pretty cheap too! and because of the onion soup mix... it required absolutely no additional seasoning, it was perfect.
