Re: Sunning stains out, should be a sticky.
I'd wash them and then leave them out in the sun all day. It may not take that long.

Re: Sunning stains out, should be a sticky.
What about stains on PUL? My son got one of his pockets FILTHY outside, and the sun hasn't done anything. It's white with colored stars. Would it be ok to use lemon juice, or will that affect the PUL somehow?

Re: Sunning stains out, should be a sticky.
Nerd alert...think of sunning diapers like putting a jaundiced/yellow baby under a bili lamp. Bilirubin is a byproduct of red cell breakdown that is found in pee, but more noticeably in poop. The liver of some babies can't handle the large amount of red cell breakdown, so they become yellow as bilirubin builds up in the blood. The uv light exposure causes the bilibrubin to break down.
Sunning pooped-on items doesn't require direct sunlight outside. Items can be sunned inside, too (near a window). There is no hard and fast rule about how long to sun items. It may take multiple rounds of sunning depending on the time of day, how long it's left out, the cloud cover, inside or outside sunning, and food content in the poop, and the concentration of the stain, etc. |

Re: Sunning stains out, should be a sticky.
I had some issues with smell and staining and left my to diapers to dry outside in the sun all day....like magic, the stains disappeared and the diapers smelled clean and fresh. I found sunlight to be more effective than special laundry aids.

Re: Sunning stains out, should be a sticky.
I was very surprised at how well the sun gets stains out!! i had pretty significant EBF stains in my NB diapers and they are totally gone after sunning. Love it!!
I have never even tried laundry aides for stains as I don't want anything on my NB's skin that may harm it!
