I have low blood pressure as well and bleed a whole lot with my last birth. I didn't know that there was a coorelation. Do you have anymore info on this? I'm preparing for my fifth and this is the only thing worrying me about another homebirth.

Well technically there is no correlation of low blood pressure and hemorrhaging BUT people with low blood pressure don't handle blood loss well. They tend to crash and need to lay down for several hours after birth. My Hemoglobin was pretty low so my midwife put me on Wheat Grass Juice and had me eat tons of Kale for the Vitamin K. Vitamin K helps your blood clot. Iron won't help you if your Hemoglobin is low, which is what most Doctor's give during pregnancy.

Both of those things helped me, as my Hemoglobin was only a 9 and the 'normal' range is 12-16. It brought me up to an 11 in about a week.

Are you having a midwife attend your homebirth? Some of them have a Hemouglobinometer so you can keep an eye on it.

Thanks! We put it in a chux pad wrapped in duct tape but we knew we were going to cut it at about 24 hours. My midwife said if we wanted to leave it on longer that we should wrap it in a prefold and she puts some kind of herb rub on it to help with the smell. We never had an issue with smell or leaking or anything.
